So it’s finally here after months of anticipation. The PlayStation 4 will launch in the UK on 29 November.
The thing that excites me the most about the PS4 isn’t the insane level of power (GDDR5 – mmmm bandwidth), potentially exciting online capabilities or new Dual Shock pads but rather Sony’s focus on games and support for indie developers and small studios.
It’s refreshing to see they’ve learnt lessons from the hubristic launch of the PS3, and returned to their gaming roots.
Sony deserve respect for continuing to produce experimental, challenging and unique content. Games like Journey truly defined next gen for me. It’s not always about horse power, but rather innovation.
Let’s see how Microsoft respond with the Xbox One launch.
